today was our last day in MT class..i learned a lot and i gained new friends :) in a short span of time we grew close together and it kind of saddens me that we are going to part ways soon. this was how i felt when i graduated college and HS.
when i graduated college. i missed them every single day even during the days when we have to be in school after graduation. the sadness wont go away and i would always check on them. but things change and priorities change as well.
yeah..when you graduate and move on its when you will realize that you are really a grown up already. you have to take on responsibility and work hard.
sometimes it makes me wonder what my life had been if i had been able to continuously work and sustain myself..but its something i can not take back or undo..
when i was a younger and still learning..i would mimic my mom when she do the laundry..i would get my own basin (which was just a small basin but was large for me when i was a kid LOL) and fill it with water and get my dirty clothes and imitate how she hand washes all of our clothes..
and i though that life was that simple..i even imagined that i want to be a labandera or a laundry woman..LOL i was young and naive :)
when i hit puberty it was when my mom obliged me to wash my own clothes specially my under garments during my monthly period..mom said that i should take the responsibility of washing it since it may have blood stains and that i should be ashamed to ask someone wash it for me..
that's the story why i was accustomed to washing my own clothes and why im used to hand washing :)
today is my girlfriend's birthday!! yeeeeyy!! initially we did not have any plans of celebrating her birthday because she might get a call and might need to go somewhere else. fortunately for us no one called on this day. i had a feeling that i should push through with my plan of seeing her even if i had a class because i thought that my class would end after lunch and i would have time to see my girlfriend and spend some quality time with her on her birthday butit took us until 8pm and i was able to see yhan before or maybe around 9pm in the evening already!
we wasted no time and looked for a nice place to have dinner. she is not really the type of person that likes fancy place. i wanted us to eat at italliani's but eventually she liked friday's more so we ended up having dinner at friday's :)
we ordered jack daniels salmon for her and jack daniels pork belly for me. we enjoyed our food. yhan admitted that she didnt feel like celebrating her birthday and thought that we might just celebrate it in the next coming days. but my instinct tells me she that i should do the opposite of what she wants so i insisted on seeing her even if i was so late and she nearly got mad at me for being late.
i on the other hand felt that i couldve done more if i had the time.i always have cake and candles for her to blow on her birthdays. i would have bought cake for her but she was already waiting for me at national bookstore plus the cake stores might already be closed by the time i check them. im really out of time and i cannot accept that she will not have even a slice of cake and a candle to blow.
so i planned something. i pretended that i needed to go to the washroom. but before actually going in the bathroom i told the server or waitress that 'its my girlfriends birthday today. can i secretly buy her a slice of cake?and would you be kind enough to light a candle on her cake and sing her a happy birthday when i come back from the washroom?please?'
well of course the server said yes :)))
wheb i got back to my seat. i smiled at the server and it kind of send the signal that they should sing for yhan now.
yhan's reaction was unexplainable. honestly she doesnt want this kind of attention when in public. LOL but i wanted to do something i havent done before. hehehehe..
then after dinner we stayed and chatted for a while. updated with what is happening recently and just sat beside each other. we wen home around 11pm. it was kind of traffic and we got home at around 1230am. she was already sleepy by the time we finished washing our face and is already burying her face into my neck! LOL

whoa!! its been a long while when i last uploaded a blog...
what im doing right now i am currently getting back at editing vids and uploading them. the past months have been so stressful that i wasn't able to find time to edit videos and upload them. but i vlog most of the time. they are just there, sitting waiting to be loved..LOL so now im giving em videos some love :)) jk! but seriously im working on it. i just wish i have a better video editing program because what i use right now is just windows movie maker. but i have to make use of whats available to be right? hehehe i can only hope that whoever watches my videos will like it and enjoy watching :)
okay so i live in cavite, in a not so posh or high end subdivision. where we live, there a not much people who will stay out late and party in the streets. most of the people here are living quietly and thats how most of us want it.
i personally dont mind other neighbors being so noisy with their videoke upto wee hrs of the dawn if its weekend. its family day. its their bonding time with their families. sometimes we have videoke too and its kind of loud as well but regardless, we make sure that we end our videoke moment at around 9pm. because at this time most people are asleep already and we dont want to be the annoying neighbor.
yes sometimes we just have to put up with whats already there. im not the type of neighbor who will start a fight. but this is really making me crazy. everything that they are doing are getting into my nerves! its as if they dont think about the other neighbors concern. i dont want to be mean but they act like uneducated people, drinking and playing loud music until wee hrs of dawn of some weekdays and party all through the weekend. who would not be pissed about that??
anyways i tried to drown my annoyance in editing videos and playing games in my ipad until i fell asleep because the more i think about it the more i'll get pissed and all the more that i will not be able to sleep.
my cousin are also from camiguin province. it is where they lived together with my aunt and my cousins finished elementary and high school there. but since they are now going to college, my aunt opted to to give them the freedom to choose the school they want to go to. one of my cousin will go to CEU or centro escolar university in manila and she will be taking up dentistry. she already had a year in BS education but decided later on that she want to shift into another course. her younger brother on the other hand will take radio technology and will study in a university in cagayan de oro but im not sure about this yet because they have not finalized their decision yet.
it so much fun being with them. patty plays the guitar and is also curious about makeup and kikay stuff so whenever they are here in our house, we do make up and pictorials around the house :) martin on the other hand is a quiet shy type of person. most of the time he doesnt comment but when he does, you will definitely end up laughing :) my mom was closest to these 2 aunts of mine, whenever mom gets sick its almost always tita eva who will be there to take care of here. sometimes when om needs a confidant, she open up to tita nene. these aunts are my dad's siblings.
i had a class before meeting with leonard. he wanted to check on some items at SNR membership shopping. i had a card so i went with him. we also had late lunch there. i ate calzone pepperoni and cheese pizza. we were already full and were just chatting to kill time because it was still so hot outside for us yo commute. we saw someone eating iced cream and boom! we wanted one too! LOL
yes i had i very sinful day and i ate more that my tummy can take! i was already full but i saw the ice cream and i knew i just had to give in! DONT JUDGE ME! not when im having PMS! LOL :))
we last saw each other at vienne's christening. after that i kind of lie lowed from going out with friends because at that time my mom just passed. even though i was smiling all the time i find it hard to go out and have fun.maybe because i was still grieving over the loss of my mom.
mavie is one of my closest friends since college. we never really started out ok or we never really automatically clicked. our friendship really started from scratch and progressed as we grow close together. she had my back when i was in a BS relationship and she was one of the few people who helped me moved on from what i was experiencing. hehehe..also whenever i needed someone to be brutally honest, she will be that friend to me. she'd rather make you listen to all the hurtful truths than mislead you with sugar coated lies.
that's how i want my friends to be with me. frank, open, honest and straight forward. someone who can see through all my mistakes and never gets tired of my stubbornness (because eventually i will analyze and heed necessary advice given).
she has her own family now. a loving husband and a beautiful baby girl, vienne :) vienne is really so adorable. i think she will grow up to be a strong fine lady just like her mom :)
today is geffry's grauduation day! congratulations!
geffry is my nephew. he lived in camiguin province before he came to cavite. my mom convinced my dad that they help geffry's family by sending him to maritime school so that eventually when he graduates, he will be able to help his own family.
geffry has been really a very industrious and diligent in his studies and at home he makes sure he helps in household chores. he rarely complains and is always ready to do tasks. he always makes it a point to appreciate the chance that was given. thanfully enough, he was able to graduate. my mom would have been proud if she were still alive.
but yhan made sago iced candy for us and during lunch time yhan's dad cooked beef and broccoli.
in their family they are all trained to cook well. yhan's dad is an ilonggo and ilonggo's are known to be meticulous when it comes to cooking they food. as much as possible every meal should be well prepared and well cooked and it should taste great.
to be honest im not really a good cook at home. most of the time my mom or someone else cook for us. my mom taught a few recipes but i never got the chance to really learn from, she admits that she's never a good cook either :p my dad doesn't cook as well. my brother who is younger than me just eat most of the time, he can tell whether the food is bad tasting or good. only my youngest sibling has a talent in cooking.
i would like to believe that it is a blessing in disguise that i came to meet yhan and her family. they were so nice to me and whenever they cook they let me watch. i still may not be a good cook but im learning. i have already cooked a few meals that yhan really approved of, she said that it was very good and tasty. a friend of mine also said that i have improved great in cooking since yhan and i got together in 2012.
it may not be a big deal to other people but i believe that serving good food to the ones you love is also a sign of showing them how valued and loved and cared for they are. :)

so thats what happened today.
this was a super lazy saturday. we refrained from watching tv or playing online games. the weather was humid and there wasnt so much to do. so there thats why we ended up sleeping almost the whole day off! we woke up just a few hours before dinner then yhan cooked something else.
DISCLAIMER:even though in the video she said it was pang pulutan (an appetizer, finger food or side dish taken with alcoholic beverages) we did not drink. hehehe. she was just teasing. :)
the day after the visita iglesia i was just at home with yhan. we started eating breakfast at around 9am in the morning because we woke up late. we were super exhausted from the visita iglesia. we thought that we will finish it in 4-5 hrs but we finished it at 6 or 7 hrs!
this day was kind of shocking for me because its my first time to see people do this kind of penitence. yhan even told me that some of them will also be nailed on the cross when they reach their destination. it is scary for me. as i see them going on their backs whipping even if it is already bleeding and their skin are wounded from the repetitive lashes, its as if i feel the pain of their penitence. i was kind of wiggling my back as i took their video. ang sakit pero di naman ako ung nagpepenitensya!!
so after that first hand experience we went back to breakfast, already kind of unappetizing because of what i saw. parang ang bigat sa pakiramdam. anyways, after breakfast we were supposed to make iced candy.
ice candy is one of the popular treats here in the philippines specially during summer to relieve the humid weather. ther are a lot of varieties and flavors to choose from but yhan wanted sago (from the Malay word "sagu, meaning 'mealy pith' ; this is a powdery starch from the trunks of sago palms which is similar to or look like tpioca pearls.) unfortunately we were not able to go to the market.
by lunch time, ann (yhan's sister in law) started cooking ginataang munggo. this is a filipino dish made of munggo or mung beans and malagkit (sticky rice) cooked in coconut milk.

and in the after noon after this was cooked, it was now time for caridad, a tradition also done during holy week where people give food to the needy or less fortunate. watch the video here :)
i am a Filipina and of course i live here in the Philippines hehehe and during Lenten season there are a lot of old filipino custom of atonement that are done. this starts during ash Wednesday where people go to church and have their forehead marked with cross made of ashes (originally these ashes are made from palm leaf art or palaspas in tagalog, i know this because when i was younger the church where i attend mass would announce to church goers if they can donate their palaspas for ash Wednesday but i don't know if this tradition is still done because in the church where i am now going now they don't announce it or maybe i just didn't hear it..my bad..correct me if im wrong) and this will last up to 40 days.
the atonement done includes fasting which most of the people do since this maybe considered the easiest of all. some devotees can go as extreme as carrying a huge cross on their backs like what Jesus did while some others with veil on their faces walk or march barefoot on the road and whip their selves for hours until they reach the end of their destination. some of these people also have themselves nailed or hanged on the cross which i think by far is the most extreme of all the because you may damage your hands permanently and hands are very essential to ones daily living.
people who do these are not forced. they do this out of the guilt they feel for not being a good christian. other think that doing so will relieve them or someone else's illness. it is their way of cleansing their soul from all the sins that they have done.
priests nowadays advice devotees that they may opt not to do it since it can hurt them or even kill them (mind you, the nails the use are really big and long!) but these devotees will not be stopped at any cost because they believe its a tradition done for hundreds of years and they want to honor jesus' sacrifice on the cross by reliving it.
one of the traditions done during holy week is Visita Iglesia. visita iglesia is a form of 'station of the cross' done a bit differently. instead of doing the stations in one church, devotees go to different churches for each station. its tiring but its one of the coolest thing you can do with your family or friends during holy week. i dont know why but sometimes people have given 'holy week' a whole different meaning and perspective. some people see holy week as a time for get aways far off vacations which i think is a total opposite of what is being preached at church, but who am i to judge?? all im saying is that i personally think they should not forget the real meaning of lenten season or holy week. its a time of penance and cleansing of our souls from all the sins we have done for the past year. it is the only time we get to do this. lets all be honest. some people dont even pray at night for the blessing they receive. ok m gonna STFU because i dont wanna be too preachy. LOL
anyways i started doing Visita Iglesia last year with yhan and her group of friends. being a first timer at that time, i had no idea how tiring it was going to be but we finished 7 churches. we had 2 stations per church. it was fun tiring and left me super exhausted that when i got home i didnt even manage to clean myself. my legs felt sore and i literally just fell and slept on my bed. i woke up cleaned and wearing fresh new clothes. yhan managed to clean me while i was sleeping. she wasnt as tired as i am because she's been doing it for the past 4 or 5 years already. so this year i did it with my closest friends. we were supposed to meet at sm manila but it ws closed so we opted to meet at starbuck in JP Laurel st. Roxas boulevard. then we started our visita iglesia ala team clingy :) it was a lot more exhausting since we did 14 stations but for me and yhan even if we were super exhausted we felt that it was all so worth it. to feel that you have done something even a small sacrifice, to honor what Jesus did on the cross is really overwhelming.
